Norwegian duo Soft as Snow makes experimental pop for the interplanetary set, echoing the sounds of minimal wave and early Warp releases. Watch them perform live at the Funkhaus for Catalyst's (formerly dBs Berlin) Studio Sessions series.
Our third part to a series of live performances that took place at the Funkhaus. These were recorded and shot by dBs Berlin [now Catalyst] students and staff in the stunning Saal 1. We leave you this time with some incredible videos which feature Soft as Snow.
They were picked up by the Houndstooth label in an attempt to broaden their repertoire. It seems that their keen sensibility for pop which they balance with vigorous strides toward radical experimentalism, is doing just that. Combining their sound with stunning visual effect, this duo captivates a whole lot of senses during a performance.
Hailing from Norway, Oda Egjar Starheim is their singer and Øystein Monsen works the gear to the edge. Their versitality has led them to play in such venues as London’s Birthdays and The Old Blue Last as well as Team Titanic in Berlin.
The release of the Glass Body EP gathered a lot of praise from the publications like FADER, Dazed, Pigeons & Planes, The Line of Best Fit, Dummy, Stereogum and Tiny Mix Tapes. We would certainly relish the opportunity to film and record such a dynamic duo, once again.
