Aisha Kalymzhanova
Aisha Kalymzhanova is a Kazakh actress, writer, and performer based in Berlin. A multi-talented artist, she recently graduated with a BA in Screen Acting from the Catalyst Institute for Creative Arts and Technology, where she developed her craft across film, television, and live performance. Her work blends humour, music, and authenticity to tell bold, character-driven stories rooted in identity and heritage.
Aisha is the creator and performer of Kazakh Princess Diaries, an original solo musical comedy that premiered at the 2025 Edinburgh Fringe Festival. The show combines jazz- and cabaret-inspired music with physical theatre and six distinct characters, exploring themes of cultural confusion, privilege, and self-discovery through a uniquely Kazakh lens. With this debut piece, Aisha brings forward a rarely seen Central Asian perspective on an international stage — with humour, heart, and originality.
She began her training at the Kazakh National Institute for Creative Arts, studying under some of the country’s most respected acting teachers. Her early experience in theatre shaped her into a versatile performer, capable of moving seamlessly between dramatic roles and comedic storytelling
In addition to acting and writing, Aisha is a passionate singer-songwriter and freestyle dancer, using music and movement as expressive tools in her creative process. Fluent in Kazakh, Russian, and English, she draws inspiration from her multicultural background and cross-cultural experiences to craft stories that are intimate, fearless, and full of personality.
With Kazakh Princess Diaries marking her first original theatrical work, Aisha continues to build her voice as a multidisciplinary artist and cultural storyteller, committed to sharing new narratives that are bold, personal, and globally relevant.
