Film Production tutor
Katerina’s life advice couldn’t be more in line with Catalyst’s ethos: “Be yourself, find your voice, love it and never stop creating!” The Greek filmmaker joined us in 2020 to teach screenwriting and narrative to our Film Production students. “My goal is to motivate and inspire filmmakers to find their own cinematic way of telling their stories,” she says of her role.
Since 2006, Katerina has written and directed several award winning short films and three feature films (We Are Not Alone, Mother Me, Sinema), as well as developing TV shows and working with large production companies. In 2019, she was selected for the TV series writing residency CANNESERIES INSTITUTE with a comedy show. In 2020, she was selected for Series Mania UGC Writers Campus with her half-hour ghost comedy drama show ‘Moving On,’ which she co-created with Elena Lyubarskaya. To top off her impressive CV, Katerina is also currently a PhD in Practice candidate, writing a TV show which utilises augmented reality to interactively tell the story. And, she’s a member of Dirty Dozen, a European creator’s collective.
What brings Katerina the most satisfaction in life? “So many things… creating ideas, finding inspiration, writing, listening to music, dancing, going to concerts, fashion, eating delicious food, meeting the people I like.” Her favourite musicians are Aphex Twin, Autechre and Boards of Canada. Her favourite filmmakers: David Lynch, Stanley Kubrick, Luis Buñuel, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Carlos Reygadas and Jonathan Glazer.
