Applications for the 2022 course year are now open. Here’s everything you need to know.
“Next year is going to be my year.” The last couple of years made it pretty hard to keep faith in that statement. Yet, if you ask some of our thriving current students, who plunged head-first into courses at Catalyst despite the uncertainty of the pandemic, they’ll tell you that next year can always be your year – if you make it happen. So allow us to add a huge opportunity to your horizon: 2022 applications are now open!
If you’re ready to kick-start your career in audio or music production, filmmaking, visual effects, digital arts and animation, or screen acting, apply by our Priority Deadline of the 29th of April, 2022, to secure your spot. Read on for more information.
The priority deadline for all HE Certificate, Bachelor and Master’s courses is the 29th of April. Apply by this date and we guarantee you’ll get a place on your desired course, providing your application meets our entry requirements. Course places are available on a first come, first served basis.
If you are a non-EU resident, you can already start applying for a study visa, which depending on your country of residence, may take a few months. Apply by the Priority Deadline and our admissions team will be happy to support you with the documents needed to successfully acquire your student visa or funding.
The standard application deadline is the 1st July. If you meet our entry requirements, we will do our best to offer you a place on the course of your choice. If there are no places available we will either offer you a place on an alternative course or place you on the waiting list.
Late applications: After the 1st of July all applications are placed on a waiting list.
New Student Funding Options!
Big news! Citizens of the EU, migrants and refugees can now apply for student funding at Catalyst via Bafög (German state funding). Funding options for Scandinavian residents are also available via the respective nations’ funding organisations.
Want to start an HE Certificate or Bachelor programme at Catalyst but lack the standard entry requirements? Then get access through our Primer Workshops!
Utilising task and project-based learning methodology, the workshops focus on essential study skills to ensure that you’re prepared for our longer HE certificate or degree-level programmes.
If you are not able to put together the tasks required for our degree course submission, than this option may be helpful. These workshops run alongside our summer short course programme.
However, before considering if you need a Primer Workshop at all, get in touch with our Admissions team so that they can assess your level and advise if this option is needed for you.
Summer Short Courses
If you’re already making plans for the summer of 2022, our 4-week intense short courses are a great way to get up to speed on the essential foundational skills or simply freshen up on your music production, sound engineering, film production, acting.

A Word of Encouragement
According to admissions lead Sylvia Gozdek, what really makes applicants stand out is being open and honest about interests and goals, and demonstrating a strong motivation to learn and collaborate.
“Working on projects with your fellow students who have different interests and skills than you is not only fun, but it also mirrors what you might spend your professional life doing. We like to see people who can work well with others. It’s also important for you to have an idea of where your skills are at currently. If this is clear, we can help you figure out where you want to go and how to get you there.”
“Communicate with us if you need some extra time for a step and don’t stress about the quality of any track or videos you submit. Finally, if you are ambitious, don’t hide that. We try hard to create a safe space for people to dream big.”
